Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 2026
1. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. This policy also covers similar technologies such as local storage and session storage, which we use to remember your in-game preferences between visits.
2. Why We Use Cookies
We use cookies to keep Horizon Outfitters running smoothly, remember your consent choices, and understand (anonymously) how visitors use our games. We do not use cookies to identify you personally or to build advertising profiles without your consent.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
| Category | Purpose | Examples | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keep the site running — session handling, security, age-gate confirmation, and storing your cookie consent choice. | __age_ok, __cc_v1 | Session to 12 months |
| Performance / analytics | Anonymous traffic measurement to understand which pages and games are most used. No personal identifiers collected. | __cf_bm (Cloudflare) | Up to 30 days |
| Functional | Remembers UI preferences such as accepted age-gate status and any in-game settings you adjust. | localStorage keys for game state | Up to 12 months |
| Advertising / targeting | When you arrive via a paid advertising campaign (e.g. Google Ads or Microsoft Advertising), those platforms may set cookies to measure campaign effectiveness. These are only set with your consent. | Google Ads cookies (policy), Microsoft Advertising cookies (policy) | Up to 13 months |
4. Lawful Basis
Our lawful basis is governed by the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). Strictly necessary cookies are set on the basis of legitimate interest — they are essential for the site to function and do not require your consent. All other cookie categories (performance, functional, advertising) are set only with your explicit, opt-in consent, which you can withdraw at any time through our cookie banner or your browser settings.
5. How to Manage Cookies on Horizon Outfitters
When you first visit the site, a cookie banner offers you two choices: Accept all (consents to all categories) or Essential only (strictly necessary cookies only). Your choice is stored in localStorage.__cc_v1. To change your preference later, clear that key using your browser's developer tools or storage inspector, then reload the page — the banner will reappear.
6. How to Manage Cookies in Your Browser
You can also control or delete cookies directly in your browser:
7. Third-Party Cookies and Services
The following third parties may set cookies when consent is given:
- Cloudflare — provides DNS, CDN, and anonymous analytics. May set
__cf_bmfor bot management and performance monitoring. Cloudflare Privacy Policy. - Google — if you arrive via a Google Ads campaign and consent to advertising cookies, Google may set measurement cookies. Google Advertising Cookies.
- Microsoft Advertising — if you arrive via a Microsoft Ads campaign and consent, Microsoft may set measurement cookies. Microsoft Advertising Privacy Policy.
8. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a withdrawal of consent for analytics and advertising cookies — only strictly necessary cookies will be set. We do not currently process Do Not Track (DNT) headers as a separate signal, as GPC supersedes it in our implementation.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. We recommend checking back periodically if cookies and data practices matter to you.
